"Griffey" is a stag-red fawn dog. In October 2005 he turns 10 years
old. He started his show career at the age of 6 months by winning 2
Best in Shows at an International Show. He was winners dog at his
first AKC show and his littermate was winners bitch. They were 6.5
months old. He won American Boxer Club Most Bred By Exhibitor wins
in 1997. He sure had a fun show career. He finished his AKC Championship
with a Group 1, out of the classes and over 2 top 20 dogs! Then he
went on the obedience. He finished his Companion Dog title in
3 shows. He was awarded the ABC Performance Dog Award. At that
time there were only 32 dogs in the country with that award and his
mother, CH LRM Rainy Spring Heidi CD, was one of them.
Since he retired, he has spent many days helping to raise puppies
and protecting the house. Although not titled, he has worked as a
Therapy Dog. He has gone to school as a "show and tell" project and
he was used as a 4-H project one year. He outweighed his handler by
about 40#. He is such a gentle giant.
Earlier this year (2005) I decided to dust him off and see how we
would do in a Rally class. So, off we went to class. What fun that
is!!! He was a big hit. It had been many years since he had been
worked in obedience. He fell right into it again. He loved the
relaxed nature of Rally. We finished his Rally Novice in 3 shows
and finished his title with a First Place in July, with a score of
98 out of 100.
Griffey has been the most fun, exciting "friend." He has been by my
side in the showring, at the whelping box and kissed my tear off my
cheek when we lost his Mother, Heidi, to cancer. He is so
sensitive and sweet. Today, he is watching his granddaughter
Briteny grow up. She is incredible, sweet and sensitive just like
her Grandpa. It is certainly fun to see wonderful genetics at
work....
