| Rocky was
adopted by us at the age of 4 years old. He was very thin and had
abscesses on his neck from the chain around it. He had been tied to a
tree in his owner's backyard. He is such a gentle and sweet natured
dog he fit right into the family. His sire is AM/Can Ch Dornlea's Free
Spirit SOM, an All Breed BIS as well as multi BISS winning dog. His
dam, Kenai's Tiger Princess. We decided he would be the perfect dog
for Kevin to learn his handling skills. It took us a year to get him
into show shape. Slick and shiney and ready to "rock 'N roll", into
the ring we went. His first weekend out with Kevin, he took a 4 point
major under Mr. Chester Collier. Rocky slowly picked up points with
his amateur handler. We took time off from the show ring for 1 year to
heal a severe eye injury. His first weekend back on the circuit, he
pointed out. Rocky was shown only on a limited basis. He traveled
only with us. We retired him at the age of 11 after winning the open
brindle classes all 3 days during a specialty weekend. He still
needed that elusive major. Rocky is now 12 1/2 years young. He is a
bit grey, but he still has the showmanship that everyone ringside
enjoyed so much. He is an International and National Champion winning
4 International Best in Shows. He was shown as a brace and has 3
Canadian Best Brace in Shows as well as many group 1 in AKC shows.
His puppy LRM Let The Thunder Roll, just won Best Puppy In Show at the
Oregon Boxer Club Specialty under Mr. Jason Zurfleih and Grandsweeps
at the Pacific NW Boxer Club Specialty. He needs majors to finish.
His daughter CH River Ridge Freckled Playgirl, took the breed over
specials and a Group 4 out of the 9-12 class under Mr. E. R. Hastings
and finished her championship at the Rose City Cluster with a 5 point
major. At the PNWBC Specialty, his daughter, AM/Can CH LOGO’s Fancy
Fuchsia of LRM, won the big open brindle bitch class and went on to
win Best In Specialty over specials and 2- Top 20 dogs!!! Rocky has
brought so many hours of enjoyment to our lives. He has brought many
smiles ringside as he strutted his stuff. We are very proud he is a
part of our lives. |
